FRUITY BEANS

​Soak 4 cups dried beans of your choice, overnight.

In the morning drain and rinse the beans.
Place them in a slow cooker, cover with water {so that it goes over the beans by 2”} and cook on high. If you do not have a slow cooker, place in a stock pot, and bring boil, then lower to a simmer.
After an hour add:
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 ½ tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
Then cook until soft.
Then add:
  • 2 1/2 tsp salt {or to taste}
  • 3 tbsp dried onion flakes
  • 2 tbsp dried garlic flakes
  • 2 tbsp dried cilantro
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin (optional)
Add more water if needed to make the beans creamy.
Cook for 30 minutes to blend flavors.
Then add:
  • 2 ½ cups of your favorite tomato sauce
Let cook for 15 more minutes.
Serve them over rice or quinoa.
Enjoy!
